Working to create a tangible piece of memory based on the flooding event in Southern Alberta in 2013 was the inspiration for RUSH. Using compiled images and text from a small selection of family members, RUSH is a series of recollections and documents that contrasts the heavily photojournalistic style of most publications released since the events. Quiet moments and memory are given space and elegance, and words are honest. A High River native, Alexandra’s immediate and extended family were all part of the area most heavily affected by the historical damage. They still reside there today.
The following small selection from the book gives a view into some of the intimate documentation and imagery from RUSH.
